Manager/Coaches Selection Process

Note: Gilbert American Little League Started a new process in 2000. It was to keep information on Managers/coaches that would help the league determine the future of those Managers/Coaches in the program. Pictures were taken of the Managers/Coaches and a file was created on each one. This was also done to help the League place a name to a face. Data was gathered on Managers/Coaches throughout the previous season. The data that was collected included both good, and bad traits of a Manager/Coach. If a Manager/Coach was seen as being very vocal to umpires game after game, it was noted. If a Manager/Coach was removed from a game, it was noted. Gilbert American Little League is in no way trying to punish a Manager/Coach for a mistake, but to have a coach be a positive role model. However, we want to make the sure they don’t continually make the same mistakes.

  1. Fill out Managers/Coaches application. This can be found on the website at The application must be completely filled out.
  2. Should the application not be filled out correctly the application will be given back to the applicant to correct.

  3. The Executive board reviews the application to ensure it is completed correctly. Also verified will be the agreement by the applicant to attend mandatory meetings, assist as officer of the day, and recruit parent volunteers.
  4. If the applicant does not agree to all the conditions, the applicant will be denied a Manager/Coach’s position.

  5. An internal background check within the League database will be conducted on each applicant.
  6. Any issues will be reviewed by the Executive Board.

  7. A complete list of Managers/Coaches will be given to all board members at which time each member will be allowed to comment (good or bad).
  8. These comments will be taken into consideration during the selection process.

  9. The following items will be also taken into consideration during the selection process of the applicant.
